Spatiotemporal Distribution of Stink Bugs (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) in Peach Orchards and Surrounding Habitat

چکیده
Stink bugs (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) are economic pests of a variety fruit crops across the southeastern USA, and damage by stink to peaches is common. The landscape surrounding orchards may influence bug distribution dispersal into this commodity, but such patterns vary over growing season. Accordingly, control should be targeted seasonally towards habitats that effectively reduce or prevent peach. In study, we used pheromone-baited traps characterize 2 species, Euschistus servus (Say) tristigmus (both Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), in peach habitat seasons at 3 sites central Georgia, USA. addition, Spatial Analysis Distance Indices identify significant aggregations each species duration seasons. Adults captured differed varied wk sampled. was commonly found peaches, whereas E. not. Regardless orchard yr, adult tended avoid woodland habitat, prefer type. Both increased later season with spatial detected all orchards. However, which were yr. Across orchards, adults clustered mainly trees adjacent pecan, as well pine, fallow, kudzu habitat. Adult aggregated primarily woodland, pecan Seasonal suggest measures need implemented on fine scale non-crop habitats.

Pyramid traps coated with "industrial safety yellow" exterior latex gloss enamel paint and baited with Euschistus spp. aggregation pheromone, methyl (2E,4Z)-decadienoate captured more stink bugs than all other baited and unbaited trap types in both apple and peach orchards in 2002 and 2003. Commercial sources of dispensers of methyl (2E,4Z)-decadienoate deployed in association with pyramid trap...

A two-year study was conducted in South Carolina wheat (Triticum aestivum L. (Poales: Poaceae)) fields to describe spatial and temporal dynamics of stink bugs (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), which were sampled weekly with sweep nets. In 2010, the main phytophagous stink bugs caught in a grid sampling plan across two fields were the brown stink bug, Euschistus servus (Say), the rice stink bug, Oebalu...
متن کاملCharacterizing the spatial distribution of brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys Stål (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), populations in peach orchards
Geospatial analyses were used to investigate the spatial distribution of populations of Halyomorpha halys, an important invasive agricultural pest in mid-Atlantic peach orchards. This spatial analysis will improve efficiency by allowing growers and farm managers to predict insect arrangement and target management strategies. Data on the presence of H. halys were collected from five peach orchar...

Chinavia hilaris (Say), Euschistus servus (Say), Euschistus tristigmus (Say), and Thyanta custator custator (F.) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) are serious pests of crops in the southeastern United States but little is known concerning their dispersal from noncrop hosts in woodlands into crops. This 2-yr study was conducted to investigate whether elderberry [Sambucus nigra subsp. canadensis (L.) R. ...
